New to Strava, how do I view calories or cadence details on the android app?

Mate has iOS and it just appears on his ride details.

Neither pay for the premium

Ignore calories. It's completely made up. You're better off not seeing it!

This^ but if you like looking at them use Garmin Connect as it always adds huge chunk to what Strava says for me. At least a whole pies worth!

That's interesting, it's the other way round for me. Ran a half marathon yesterday and garmin connect showed 950 calories whilst strava 2,100 calories...

So compare the 2 and choose the one you like best 🙂

Didn't realise Garmin Connect does all the little graphs!

I'll go with the extra pie figures on Garmin cheers

Strava awards me around 25% than Garmin Connect, but then I can't see anywhere in GC to tell it how much my bike weighs or what kind it is, so they're making more assumptions than Strava.

In either case they'll be more representative of effort if you have heart rate, cadence and power meters than without.

It's only ever an incredibly rough estimate.. The only way to do it accurately is to measure heart rate and cadence, taking into account weight, and whether the moon is in alignment with Jupiter.

If you are out of breath your burning a decent amount.

Strava has me burning more calories than Garmin - I imagine neither are particularly accurate.

To answer the original question you need to enter your weight for Strava to guess your calorie use (and maybe bike weight?)

I haven't checked but I assume Ive differant weights on Strava & Garmin contributing to the descrepancy.

Strava is utterly useless for Calories IMO, it calculates it based on distance, elevation and body weight - but can't allow for terrain etc so 15km riding over boulders on 16kgs of MTB or 15km riding mirror smooth Tamarac on a featherweight Roadbike - all the same to Strava.

My Fitbit HR which as the name suggests uses heart rate to calculate output varies massively with Strava sometimes way under, sometimes way over, never the same, not even close.
