Recently completed my hardtail progect, strange goinings on though,
When seated, all is well, but when standing I have a problem.
Right foot down is fine, but there seems to be no "bite" to bring the left foot around thus me having to pedal backward and push the right foot down again.
I have a brand new bottom bracket and brand new rear hub so the only thing I can think of is a new cassette and chain , anybody got history with a similar problem ?
Wait, what?
So when you're standing you can push down on the pedals with the right foot, but not the left? What happens when you try to push with the left?
VERY Strange? 😐 The only thing I can think of is the crank arm splines are worn and under pressure are slipping, but that would surely put the crank arms out of alignment?
Assuming you are clipped in, what happens if you pull up the left?
If the splines were that worn that the crank arms didn't engage and drive they would spin when seated as well and be very difficult/confusing to ride.
Are you sure the rear hub is fitted properly?
More info needed I think. What cranks and BB? Picture would probably help too.
once i get my left foot past the vertical mark, as if the pedal was along side the seat tube, then i can push down fine, its as if when my right foot goes down, the left side wont come around properly, nothings jamming and all works fine when seated........ very strange indeed.
Have you got really weird technique or something? What do you mean by won't come around properly? Any pictures? What cranks/bb/pedals?
and they are race face ride crank with matching external bb

Those cranks don't look at 180 degrees to each other!
That might be your problem, right there. The NDS crank should be in line with the DS crank.

I'm surprised you found it fine when you were sitting down, specially with flats.
That's a wind up surely?
@superjack - in your for sale thread in your history about a month ago you stated that a bike mechanic had sorted your bike, yet that thread contains the same photo of the cock-eyed cranks?
LOL,PMSL,ROFL ,etc,etc......
please tell me it ain't April 1st.....
If this is for real then a legendary thread 🙂
omg i cant actually beleive this has been missed, cheers for spotting that lmfao !
Love it
Thread of the week.
Its true about the cycle mechanic,
ive even re built the rear wheel to replace the hub aswell !
shocking haha !!
Brilliant
Did you not notice when you fitted the new BB...?
How on earth did the OP not spot this in the last month?
when i was fitting them in work i had to chase and face the bottom bracket shell, fit the BB, cranks, chain and cassette on my half hour dinner break as well as eat my food ! still no exuse thou haha
ROFLMAO!
Doesn't amuse me. Obviously a load of false tosh. Nothing to see here, unless you are VERY easily amused and gullible with it.
How did you even get them on, the NDS splines ensure that the crank arm only goes on in the correct position.
Did you use a persuasion stick?
This has got to be a wind up. Nobody could be that stupid.
My wife just thought I'd finally lost it when I burst into proper belly laughter.
Wind up or not it amused me.
I'm with grimy....wind up, deffo,
Wot a cock !
LOL though regardless of a wind up 😆
I never saw this first time around. Had to wait a minute before I could type this for laughing.

ha ha thats really made my night, Thanks soo much 🙂
My cranks have been like that for years. I prefer it that way.
Makes my mechanicing skills look good! Nice one 🙂
Brilliant. If anyone in the group I ride with did something this stupid they would get so much abuse!
