Hello,

I recently bought a set of second hand whyte branded wheels.
I think the hubs are formulas.
The strange thing is the bearings feel fine without the cassette on but when the cassette is fitted the bearings really start to bind.
Cassette is a GX Eagle so XD fitting. And the cassette spins nicely on the freehub, it’s the outer bearings that end up binding.

Anyone any ideas? I only ask as I can’t see the bearings lasting long as is.

Thanks.

If you're sure the hubs are Formula you cold contact either Silverfish who were the UK distributors until mid 2019 or GeoMetron who have now supplanted them.
I would go to Silverfish first based on their depth and breadth of experience - and my recent experience of dealing with them.
If the hubs aren't Formula, you're either stuffed or reliant or your independent LBS.

I’d change the bearings if it is fine until fitted.

Sounds like they are worn so binding under load.
