At the recent London bike show I spoke to one of the Hope reps about building up a set of 29er wheels with some Hope Pro IIs and he advised against and said the best option for big wheels were straight pull I.E. the Pro3.
Is this fact or was he just trying flog me a set of Hope Hoops?
They also make pro2 evo straight pull hubs, not just pro3's, maybe he suggested it for the higher spoke tension and a stiffer wheel build
Maybe it's just nackers to sell you some dearer wheels,...I've got some evo sp's on crest 29er rims and they are very nice but I've not tried any others for comparison tbh,...
OP - it's utter BS.
Spoke tension is determined by the rim in any event.
Try getting spare straight pull spokes...
Hope give you some with the wheels,..
