As it's summer my nice bike has returned from my in-laws garage and normally my rarely used shopper goes back.
Having been away for a week I've scored a mattress bag to keep my bike in to keep our holiday accommodation clean.
This has got me thinking that my shopper could spend the summer in a bag stashed behind our dustbins.
I'm assuming if the bike goes in the bag dry it will be ok.
Am I right?

My eldest stored his bike outdoors for the last year....

In a heavy duty DPC membrane homemade 'bag', and overwrapped with a tarpaulin.

The biggest issue was putting the bike away dry.

Kept one of my road bikes in the garden wrapped under a cheap blue plastic 'tarp' for a couple of years with no problems.

No, but left wet they rust very quickly

Maybe, probably, don't know TBH. Sounds like a fun experiment though.

You're better leaving it open to the elements, the bag will act like a greenhouse increasing temperature and humidity, rapdily increasing the rate of corrosion.

Better off in a bag, then put in a shed or loft.
