Right, ive fitted a cc angleset, but no matter what i do i cant stop a small amount of slop. Ive read all the fitting guides and tried the techniques/approaches they say to use, but theyre not helping me, so has anyone got any tricks to get these things lined up and tight enough so that they dont move.

I assume you mean it is rotating in the head tube?

Maybe try something like carbon paste.

No, I dont mean stopping it from rotating. Sorry I should've been clearer.

I mean that it still has a small amount of play similar to when you havent put enough preload on the top cap of a regular headset, but not as noticable. Ie you cant feel it at all when stationary , but you can feel it when riding rocky descents.

Its to do with the fact it uses gimbals to allow one of the cups to be offset to achieve the desired slackening. These gimbals (and the bearings in them) have to be perfectly aligned when you assemble the headset, otherwise you get play.

The forums are full of people with the same problem (and quite a few have given up and gone back to a regular headset), and cane creek recommend a very specific way of assembling the headset to eliminate the play, but I cant seem to make their way of assembling the headset work , ie eliminate the play.

I was wondering if anyone has any tricks for getting everything lined up , so that there is no play.

I have to say the works component slack set I had on my old bike was miles better (ie far easier to fit) than this
