Works fine with a 3 speed shifter

It's the mech that has the stops not the shifter.

Just set the limit screw accordingly!

It will work fine with a 3x shifter, just adjust your hi/loscrews, to stop the extra setting pushing the chain off to where the 3rd ring would be.

A 3x shifter would have 2 shifts in each direction (2 up 2 down) so when you use it on a double, there will be a "dead" shift at one end.

ok, cushty....

currently have a 3spd mech and have turned the screws on it and it works fine with a 3spd shifter. just wondered if the pull ratio was different for a 2spd mech.

cheers!
