Seen this doing the rounds on facebook too- doubt it'll come down to the Midlands but will keep an eye out when I'm in Scotland next week.

Hope you get it back safe and sound.

Keeping eyes peeled. There have been a few thefts in that area, keep your eyes peeled folks, don't think the casual leaving the bike outside popping into the cafe will be happening in future without a lock!

That's shite Eilidh.

Means you'll have to chuck XC and go full on enduro though!

Greg.

yeah, Keith (MugdockCountryCycles) had a few pinched from the racks in the Square and some american tourists recently had their hire cx bikes pinched while they were in the cafe. Sad times 🙁

Sounds like the perfect place for a wee entrapment bike, followed by a right good shoeing.

always one what? Getting your stuff stolen is gut wrenching but we should do everything we can to prevent it. You wouldn't leave your car or house unlocked.

Eilidh is pretty careful with her kit. Bike was leant on van, she was in van, I guess getting changed before or after ride. CCTV was too fuzzy to assist with identifying thiefs.

always one what?

Always one dick willing to take the moral high ground, simultaneously leaving the poor person that has had their pride and joy stolen to feel even worse than they do.

Well done fella though, it's usually Hora.

Gutted. I'll keep em peeled on southside/anytime I'm up that way. I'm guessing the thieving gets had to drive up there given the location? Just out of interest, given all the lights, was this an evening/night robbery? I night ride up there every so often-will pay extra attention from now on.

Was 3pm. I'm guessing eilidh was heading out for a ride, given that she had lights on too.

I once saw a chap who literally didn't take his hands off his bike during a cafe stop. Short of that there's always a chance it'll be snatched- and even then you might be mugged for it, so fun as victim blaming is let's just keep our eyes open for it!

I'm paranoid of having my bikes nicked. Went for a pee in the toilets at Glentress and came out to find a lad astride my bike adjusting the saddle height. He pretended he thought it was his bike. He was with another guy and both of them had some tatty looking bikes. Can only assume they regularly try and steal bikes up there. Anyway sometimes, no matter how careful we are, we do need reminding how easy bikes are to be nicked. Most thefts, like this, are brazen and that Glentress incident made me reassess where and how I would leave my bikes out of site. I had a bike nicked from a "secure" spot at work many years ago so know how it feels but it's easy to become complacent. Sorry for you Eilidh, it's shit and these turds don't care for the victims feelings but don't worry you'll get another bike. Maybe an upgrade?

You wouldn't leave your car or house unlocked.

She was within 5 feet of it. This is the equivalent of leaving the car unlocked whilst you unload the shopping from the boot, or leaving the front door open while you nip back inside to get something. Both of which I absolutely would do. So, yes, Morally superior dick absolutely nailed.
