Just saw this on their twitter feed. From a lorry outside their building apparently.

They'll be broken up and sold for parts. Only an idiot will try and fence the complete bikes on.

"Agency driver who 'didn't know' he could park in our driveway, or in the shipping company's yard a mile away."

so either;

1) an idiot

or

2) an inside job

depending on who's being sued.

It appears the Lorry driver responsible for not been given correct security information, by dispatch company or recieving company.

so not his fault.

The question remains, how exactly do you get away with 115 bikes which are presumably all in large boxes?

115 bikes, that's what.. over £100k at retail most likely? Ouch. Some rapped knuckles around Trek MK I should think.

Doubt that, average bike by volume is gonna be way under £1k, still not exactly great though!

Just received this:

October 29, 2012
Bikes stolen outside of Trek UK offices
(Milton Keynes) – A lorry carrying a shipment of 2013 Trek road and mountain bikes was broken into overnight on Friday, October 26th. The vehicle was parked on the street outside of the Trek offices.

Models taken include several sizes of the following models:

Elite 8.8
Elite Carbon 9.6
Fuel EX 8
Remedy 9.8
Madone 3.5
Madone 4.7
Madone 5.9

It is possible that stolen bikes will show up in stores for repair or build, or for sale on auction sites such as Ebay and Gumtree. Trek UK has a list of serial numbers for verification.

Anyone with information regarding the stolen bikes, or to report a stolen bike being offered for sale, is asked to contact Trek UK on 01908 360 160.

Sounds proper dodgy - what are the odds that someone broke into a truck, found 100+ bikes & had the time & resources to lift 'em all?

This, how many transits do you need to shift 115 bike boxes. Out of interest where was the driver? Sleeper cab or home or in a hotel room?

People should also be on the lookout for Ghost bikes with suspiciously homemade looking graphics.

(well, they do look like a Trek)

You could probably fling 20+ boxed bikes in a normal sized Transit. Perhaps more.

So, not too many....But, that does sound like a very organised piece of work.

Has anyone seen Lance? He might need a new source of income now. Who better to nick a few bikes from.

Can't think how they'll 'Remedy' that one...

The getaway van must have a tank full of 'Top-Fuel' to get away with that lot.

The mastermind behind it all must have been a right 'Mad-one' to pull that one off..

Couldn't resist... 😳

Ten would be pushing it. To shift that many bikes quickly the scum would have needed either
a) a similar sized vehicle
b) lots of vehicles
c) a very close lock-up or six

@snakebike: We are currently working to pull bikes from other warehouses in Europe to make up for any orders that were due to be completed from this shipment. If yours was included in the stolen bikes, most likely it will just be a slight delay in getting your bike to you. Apologies for the inconvenience this might cause you. Hopefully, you'll be riding your new bike soon.

Dont be daft! The Thieves can't be that thick. If they stay in this country they will get caught.

Theres many many markets in Europe. They'll turn up though...

We were lucky enough to get Tracy Moseley's stolen Session back, a year after it was taken. That was down to a good samaritan recognising it from the press release we sent at the time, buying it using PayPal so he could get his money back, and then calling us to say he had it.

@snakebite: If you sell it on Ebay, make sure to shout as loudly as possible that it's a 2012 version! 😀

Dunno, pretty much anything you'd be nicking from a parked up lorry is likely to need a van or two to carry it away isn't it? So assuming that's their business they'd likely be fairly well prepared.

that is a fair point. Its not like you'd be truning up in a Fiat 500 to steal from any lorry

Or invite was simply but on Blackberry messenger. They filled their van then charges £100 to anyone else who rocked up with a van

I would check with the trekies, the star trek appreciation society, and also Captain Kirk and Picard, both now retired from the Enterprise, then there is the klingons,a race of aliens that dont smile you just cant trust them.

Perhaps somebody has created a transporter, and said the imortal words Beam them up Scottie.

You can get 15 boxes at least in a low roof, SWB Transit, a few more if you stack them carefully.... 😉

Have emailed it to the address on the first page. I figured it doesn't take much to call it a 2012, instead of a 2013. That makes it one on the list. Just couldn't quite get over that they are selling a brand new bike so cheap unridden.
