Time for a new jersey, I quite like the design of some of the stolen goat orkaan jerseys. Currently got a castelli alpha jersey, not sure whether to go short or long sleeve. How warm is the long sleeve orkaan jersey and any reports on what they are like?
Cheers
My long sleeve orkaan is easily the best bit of cycling kit I own. I’ve had it for almost 3 years now, and will buy another in a heartbeat once the time comes.
I’ve worn it on its own in August (once, it was v windy), all the way through to a -2c start in Jan with a couple of base layers.
Same here with gabba though... 5 plus years of brilliant service... and everyone ive recommended it to love theirs too... can't go wrong with one!
You probably can only really tell if you have both - I don't.
However, how many pros/keenies do you see out in the Gabba/Perfetto and how many in the Orkaan?
Might be a triumph of marketing over substance or it might be for a good reason...
No idea which is best, I have an orkaan long sleeve and think it's a pretty good bit of kit. I get quite hot so for me, I can wear the long sleeve orkaan with a long sleeve base down to about 0 degrees. Anything above 8 and I personally find it a bit too warm.

As I said, not idea which is better and I hear nothing but good things about the gabba etc but the pros wearing the Castelli kit is almost certainly due to the fact that Castelli supply a number of pro teams and Stolen Goat don't. Keenies will likely wear what they see the pros wear, what Thier LBS stock and what's advertised on the back cover of a magazine.
Would have loved a Gabba but I bought the one I could afford/justify the price of.
Stolen Goat kit is all made by Bioracer - the Orkaan is just a Bioracer Tempest in one of the three weights that Bioracer produce it in. And you see plenty of pros in Bioracer!
I'm fortunate enough to have both Bioracer Tempest and Gabba kit, and both are great. You can't really go wrong with either.
I’ve had a Gabba since they came out - wouldn’t call it a deep winter top as it’s just stretch Windstopper with limited thermal properties. I’ve got other jackets for colder conditions. Perfetto is lighter fabric with non-windstopper back - more spring/autumn and less weather resistant. No experience of Stolen Goat.
Ive no experience with the Orkaan, but have a couple of Perfetto and a Perfetto gilet.
They are not what I’d call a full winter jacket but they are bloomin’ brilliant - for fast paced rides I can wear the Perfetto with a long sleeve merino, short sleeve base. For extra cold times the gilet over the top is all I need.
Slower paced spins nd I’d be looking for something a bit warmer.
Stolen Goat are available in funkier designs if that's important to you 😉
I'm happy with mine - it's not totally windproof so needs extra layers when it gets cold (like sub 5 for me) but for those late autumn/early spring rides it's great. I'm intrigued by the gabba though and if/when my orkaan dies I might give one a go.
Castelli are a much bigger outfit than stolen goat so it's no surprise you see a lot more of their kit - I expect castellis marketing budget would pay stolen goats rent for a year...
I have both.
On balance I prefer the SG Orkaan, but I’m not a racer. I’m tending to do mainly solo rides at 20-22mph average in the summer falling to 16-18mph riding with lights on grotty roads in the wind and the dark.
I don’t use either on the MTB really.
I've been wearing my Orkaan recently for mountain biking and its been a revelation for me. I've been wearing a long sleeve base layer underneath and have never felt cold even in sub zero temperatures. Its breathes superbly and I've yet to come home with a damp base layer. The fabric has DWR engineered in so you don't need to reproof it. Mine has had multiple washes now and is still as good as new. Heavy rain just rolls off. Eventually it will wet through but for my standard winter rides of 2-3 hour its the perfect top for me.
