Some pikey f*ckers broke into my home last night/this morning and took my two mountain bikes. I'm absolutely gutted.

Bike 1. Black Orange P7 (2007), Rockshox Recons, Hope Mono Mini brakes, Black mavic 819 rims on black Hope hubs. Shimano LX cranks/rear mech/front mech

Bike 2. Grey Santa Cruz Heckler (2006), Rockshox Revelations, Hope M4 brakes, SIlver Mavic 721 rims on black Hope hubs. Raceface ride cranks, shimano xt rear mech, lx front mech.

Please keep an eye out for anything similar in your local area. My email's in my profile if you see anything.

They got in through a downstairs window and just took them out front door. I think I'm going to cry.......

Iain

Jesus mate that's shocking. You can borrow one of mine if you need to go out for a ride any time soon.

Thanks Paul/John.

I'm so annoyed at myself. I left a window unlocked and they climbed in and simply took them straight out the front door, also taking my PS3 on their way past. The P7 is security marked though, so there's a very slim chance it might get recovered but I'm not holding out much hope........

Sorry for your loss, and to state the obvious, ALWAYS have a mortice lock on external doors, so they need a key to get in or out,and remember to lock the door, every time you exit it.

Pieman - what a nightmare.

I'll keep a lookout, too.

Do you have pics of them? Good to visual. Could you also say what road or area you live in? I live local to you so could keep a lookout when walking my dog.

If its Jacksons boat/Stretford/Gorse Hill the rider of one of the bikes shall fall into my caring hands 😈

OK hora, I'll cover Stretford Arndale to Edge Lane to Whalley Range via the Quadrant! I'm off that way right now in fact; keep 'em peeled.

Whereabouts in Chorlton? My lass had some scallies ring the doorbell last night asking for "Mark". She said it just seemed like they were checking out if we were in. This is round Ivygreen Rd.

Thanks for the support every one. My rage still hasn't subsided yet.......I reckon it'll simmer for a while yet.

re PROJECT - it's funny you mention the locks. Our landlady just changed out front door lock from a key to a twisty locking thing. Apparently it's too much of a hazard in case you can't find your keys in the event of a fire. Ho Hum. Live and learn I guess.

Anyway, the bikes were taken from Floyd Avenue on the Merseybank estate.

Here they are.....

Pieman, theyre called thumb turns, and landlords usually fit them in case of fire,if its your house, you could have a normal lock and still not be able to find your keys, and thus burn to death, i suppose it does happen a few times a year, but landords are affraid of liability,so they want thumb turns.

Once the thievesa re in its easy for them to get out sadly. All i can suggest is a really stronng chain and fixed to some imovable object.

I ride past the Crematorium towards West Dids some evenings on my sanity rides.

I can easily detour around for some extra mileage.

Thanks again one and all.

To top it all off, I don't think our insurance is going to cover the bikes. They weren't locked to an immovable object (AA contents insurance fine print....grrrrrr!!) and, because I left the window they got in through closed but not locked, I can't see them paying out on anything (they got my PS3 as well - seriously, two of life's little pleasures gone in one fell swoop).

However, my absolutely wonderful wife has done an amazing thing. She just received a nice little tax rebate, (that I didn't realise she was getting), and has just given me what amounts to a decent starter fund for a new bike.

What a woman. Far more than I deserve. 😕

Piemann,
we were burgled in May. Telly, ps3, wii, games, phones etc. Wife's car as well. They got in through a closed (on the vent position) but not locked conservetory window. We thought the same as you but the assessor said the small print on our contents policy said they must be locked which he read as the handles being in the closed position. Further locking he classed as dead locking. That is locking with a key. We were really dreading his visit but it all turned out ok. I hope this is the case for you but he did say each company is different. Ours is paymentshield. Sorry your going through this as its really shit. Any further info send me a pm.
Graham

Immovable object inside the house? Just wondering what the insurance company would have in mind
