In the vain I might once again see my pride and joys here's a list of what was stolen from my shed in Chertsey Surrey last Friday and also some hopefully helpful advice to stop is happening to you.

What went:
Turner 5-spot, large, silver, purple rockshox
Kona Caldera, 98, 19 inch, Orange with custom rear disk mount
On-One, Pompino, large, light blue
Planet-x Kaffenbach, large, cream, P2 forks, Charge spoon brown seat and h/bar tape
Kona A, FS singlespeed, black and silver, 18 inch
Anonymous Kona singlespeed, custom dropouts on an explosif frame, light blue, 19 inch, no decals
Dolan carbon road bike, most bits carbon, no decals

I can't tell you how I feel about that, for fear of it breaking some forum rules! Needless to say I wish the a'hole that did it pox in the worst of places for ever and a day.

Anyway what I learnt (all things I said I would do but never got round to before!). IF YOU DO ONE THING THIS WEEKEND DO THIS. It won't take long and you'll sleep so much better:
Lock your bikes together in the shed - it's much harder to move them
Alarm your shed. Sound is one of the biggest deterants or if you got one already make sure you replace the batteries and turn it on (ahem)
As well and multiple locks make sure they can't just take the hinges off (like on mine - it's quick and quiet). i've Araldited the heads of all the screws so a screwdriver won't work on them. I'll also be bracing the door so you can't just rip it off.
Cover any window - spary them with white pain so they can still let some light in for those of us that work in them. Make sure they are secure and can't be easily be removed.
If your garden is fenced, as long as it's over 6 foot high you can put carpet gripper or similar on the top. (If it's not that high it's an offence - no pun intended).

JUST DO IT, as they say. I wish I had.

That properly sucks. I'm really saddened by the loss of your bikes and, as I'm near you (Godalming), I'll be keeping a lookout.

Call all the shops in the area, give them details and post pictures on here if you've got 'em.

Good luck with getting them back.

Bloody hell. Sorry to hear that mate. Will keep an eye out. I'm guessing you were clocked riding these bikes. I always have a little look around before heading into my flat with the bike. If I think someone is watching I'll just ride around the block.

Damn, I just imagined your collection and some sound a bit eclectic and irreplacable. Funking barstewards.

+1 for keeping an eye out in Godalming.

I've got a shed shackle in my shed. Not going to stop the most determined thief, but they'll have to cut the lock or take half the shed with them!

Gutted for you - what utter scumbags. A ground anchor with a abus granite lock and chain is worth the investment too.

ChunkyMTB - that's a worrying thought, but makes sense, I'll be more vigilant now.

Also, it's probably wise not to post on mountain bike forums under your real name. It's very easy to locate someone from their name and town. Posting on Singletrackworld means you've probably got something other than a Halfords bicycle shaped object in your shed.

RepacK - thanks for the Almax link - it looks like I might have to upgrade my Abus Granite

rewski - my pleasure. They arent cheap but when you get yours I think you will see what you spent your money on! I had 2 bikes stolen a few years ago (Litespeed HT & a Blur LT), my new bikes are now chained up with the 19mm chain to a ground anchor in a locked steel shed in the garage! I hope to **** its enough..

That's very bad news, hope the culprits are caught and then perhaps you may get some of your bikes back.
