Vague idea to cycle from Stockholm to Copenhagen (via some bakeries...)
Anyone cycled in this neck of the woods? I know nothing about what scenery or landscape to expect.
It looks like 600-700km which is a bit far for the ~4 days I have so some of it could be by train to avoid any busy/dull bits
I should add that I'd be aiming for 100km a day or so, and lean more towards lightweight credit card touring, rather than fully laden camping gear and kitchen sink touring
I am from Sweden and have cycled in some of those areas.
Avoid the main roads and you should be in for a treat! The terrain is hilly but without major elevation changes. In most towns you'll find at least one very good bakery as well, so calories should not be a problem. That said, you will have some stretches with few towns, so plan accordingly.
If you want to cut some and take the train, do that coming into Helsingborg as that will be the part with busiest roads.
Take the ferry from Helsingborg to Helsingør, and follow the coast down to Copenhagen. That is a great bike ride, and a classic in the region.
Only really experienced cycling around Malmo area - which is your last stop in Sweden before you cross the Oresund (by train, I dont think you can cycle) but there are some great places to eat, drink and enjoy fika. Would be interested to hear how this goes as I've thought of doing something like this.
Swede here as well. I agree with olaa above.
Just some info regarding the trains if you want to shorten your trip.
The main train company in Sweden (SJ) has a no bike policy if the bike is not in a bike bag. So if you plan on taking the train you would look into the regional train companies and their policies. In southern/western Sweden this is not a problem. How it looks in the southeastern parts I do not know. Some useful train links:

SJ did moan a little when I took my bike from Stockholm to Tierp one night, but relented when I offered to go and stand with it by a door and keep it out of the way.
Despite being resident here for over a year now, I have yet to do any real exploring of the area around Stockholm by bike and have only really seen Helsinborg to Stockholm from a van on the main road (E4). I have to defer to locals for the back road knowledge, but it's not too hilly.
Where are you planning to fly into y the way? 'Stockholm' is a wide target when you fly... It could by Nyköping (Stockholm Skavsta) or Västerås if you are planning on taking Ryanair, or Arlanda if you plan on a more upmarket airline. Of the three, Nyköping may be your best bet as it is actually on the way south-west. Västerås is a bit more to the west of Stockholm and Arlanda is about 45 minutes north. If your plan is a few days in Stockholm before you start off, drop me a line and I'll be happy to meet up and show you some good bakeries!
