I’m still faffing about a potential frame change.
On one hand I’m really tempted by an Intense Tracer SL with a Fox X2 shock. On the plus side it’s fairly modern in terms of reach (460mm) but I’m concerned about the mixed reports re it’s climbing ability. Sone reviews say it’s fine but the likes of Pink Bike said it wasn’t great. The big downside for me is no bottle bosses which means back to a pack or it’s bumbag time..
I’ve also found a nice 2015 Nomad frame that’s got my attention. The major plus points are it’s not Boost so no adapter required to run my current Pro 4 and it had bottle cage mounts but I’m slightly nervous about the reach having ridden longer bikes for the last few years. It’s 438mm, a good 20mm shorter than my current bike but virtually the same as my old Switchback which I had no issues with.
It’d be good to hear from those using a Nomad of his era to hear how they get on with it. Basically I’m looking to merge two bikes into one; my DH bike and my Scout. Both of these options should weigh less than my Scout which is a bit of a porker.
