Rant here!
Don't know if anybody else has had trouble with Stff mail order, but I bought a cateye rear LED lamp, cheap one £20 ( so its not a lot of money) in August this year. Monday morning, stopped working. So I changed the batteries, not working. Looked in side and there is rust on the contact, gave it a clean, put the batteries back in nothing. Check the lamp casing, no cracks or damage. So I contact Cateye and they say send it back to the shop I bought it from and it should be covered by the two year warranty.Posted it first class in a padded envelope. STIFF rang me this morning, saying the lamp has a 'huge' crack down the side and as such they cant honour the warranty. Not so I say, the lamp was NOT cracked or visibly damaged when I posted it to them. After 20 minutes with the guy on the other end basically washing his hands of the problem. They have agreed to send it to Cateye. I am not expecting anything. If a shop the size of STIFF cant do the right thing then I don't expect Cateye to do anything either. What happened to the customer is always right?? I but 90% of my good's online (usually from Merlin) and have never had a problem like this before, Merlin have always been great. I will never use STIFF again.
rant over..............feel better now.
if it was broken in the post claim off royal mail? i'm assuming it was posted with insurance??
sounds like you need to be claiming off Royal Mail/whoever for damaging it in transit not blaming Stiff?
a huge crack ! maybe you fell off your bike and forgot and damaged the light without noticing it ? (this happens !!! 😉
defiantely a royal mail issue not a stif issue
Rant FAIL 😉
Stif sound like they've been perfectly reasonable.
Ask them to send it back to you. Assuming that it does indeed have a huge crack in it then it's Royal Mail's fault and you'll be covered for £41 (assuming that you posted it first class). You obviously kept the posting receipt to prove it, I assume.
Although my only experience of Stif was a bit of a nightmare, it does indeed sound like the issue lies with either your packaging, or Royal Mails handling.
I just wanted to get it off my chest!
Lets wait and see what the importer say.
Was posted first class, receipt saved, will claim off RM if no joy with the importer.
But as far as I am concerned I will never buy from STIFF again.
FULL STOP!
I will never buy from STIFF again.
Why?
For a succesful RM claim you may need to produce the packaing you used so they can decide if it was appropriate - you might ask Stiff if they can hang on to it or at least send you a picture.
Why? I don't get what your beef is with Stif? Were they rude to you or something? Do you think it's reasonable that they bear the cost if the product has been damaged by someone else (eg RM)?
stiff have always been pretty good IME
Yeah, can't say I've had a problem with them on the few orders I've done either.
It's Stif. STIF. Not Stiff or Stff.
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
If I were a bike shop I'd not be dealing with the OP again.
It's Stif. STIF. Not Stiff or Stff.Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
you beat me to it, if your going to rant do it properly and spell correctly.
Look at it from Stif's point of view, you've phoned them up and said that your rear light doesn't work, they've said send it back and when they receive it's cracked down the side? I think they've been more than reasonable by offering to deal with through Cateye. It's clearly RM's fault here or at your packaging skills. Pointless Rant.
a package is broken and you are angry with the recipient of the package?
