Been a while but I've finally got some fitness that means on some road sections I'm needing my smallest cog (10 tooth)...but the mech won't drop into it. Stops have been adjusted so the chain should drop off the cassette but the mech just won't move far enough.

Have given it a wiggle, readjusted the stops and oiled the mech. It seems to jump into it now but I'm wondering if it will stick again.

If so, anyone else got this and worked out cause and how to fix it?

Thanks.

No, nothing flagged. I'm assuming it might just be a lack of lube. Chain gets Squirt on it but I don't tend to do the mech at all. So I'll start given it a wee bit oil and see if that keeps it sweet.

Check that your mech hanger isn't bent.

This happened to me on a normal XX1 mech. In the short term the only way to solve it was to out a washer behind the bolt at the hanger. It got worse over time and eventually it was the death of the mech. It seems the exceptionally cheap pivot construction is the problem, there's just nothing to them. I even tried increasing the tension of the spring in there and it didn't help at all.

I'm sure everyone is desparate to know what has happened...if not, I don't blame you!

So I gave the mech a decent spray of GT85, figured the teflon bit might help ease things off a wee bit. After 2 rides the mech wasn't sitting quite right so I had to adjust it slightly to get it running sweet.

After that adjustment, the mech is dropping into 12th without any hassle. I'm assuming the spray of lube and the minor tweak has meant it is now got the movement required to drop in.

I noticed my X01 AXS wasn't dropping onto the smallest cog. For me it ended up being the limit screw needed adjusting.

I then used the little tool to check my B-tension gap, and it was far too narrow, so would the screw in to make it bigger.

I then indexed the gears using the micro adjustment on the shifter.

All works flawlessly again. So maybe worth going through the above and see if that helps at all?
