I may be late to the party but what on earth have they done to the run from the Raise and Sticks pass  ..  No grip and off camber drainage doubles 🙂

Where does the work start and finish? hopefully not the top of Raise, i was presuming it was the  rutted bit below the smooth rollers that were done last time.

Having been up twice in the past week I don't think its that bad. Certainly need a bit of care to roll the new bits but it's still the same same decent and just as good imo. Boredale to Side Farm is an entirely different subject.......

Too much money in the Lakes.  A small number of middle class ramblers are funding the ruining of trails IMO.

When out and about I've spoken to lots of walkers who are also unhappy with the works and see the sanitisation as utterly unncessary.

Shame is - it seems to be an increasing pattern across the UK at the moment.

Is Helvellyn no longer worth it on a bike?

Too much money in Mountain biking.  A large number of middle class cyclist are moaning that worn out paths are no longer challenging enough to ride on their talent compensators.

Did snowdon on my hardtail last year.

To be fair though - much more fun on my Nomad 😉

Last time I was up the work was from the crossroads of where Sticks kinda starts and went up to the washed away turn that starts up towards Raise.

They also had a digger just below the top roller bits on Sticks that they did a few year ago. My guess was that they would be "fixing" the first section you hit after those rollers, the bit that was all multiple ruts and routes before finally settling down to the singletrack.

Thanks, my default ride on Helvellyn, hopefully that is all they will fix!

I was up there yesterday... Not ridden it before, so don't have any frame of reference. The off camber waterbars simply need to be paid attention to! Whether it's betterer or not, I don't know, but a cracking descent nonetheless.

The hike-a-bike (as Classic ride in the current issue 119) up from the Thirlmere side is less fun - in fact horrible!

they're canny compressions - thankfully - the raise DH is still fun, but the relatively flat bit - now has some weird and wonderful humps and dips that - without knowing, can catch you off guard!

The run off Lowerman and the Raise is always fun but the ditches had me stumped  as does that tight righthander at the start of Sticks.

Still a great run off the top and even with the Seldom puncture party in full flow again and a very cool forward dismount from the pathfinder as you drop into the wood at the bottom ,was a cracking 3 hours out
