Heading to the talk/show/event in Leeds tonight. Anyone been to one of the other nights?
No, but booked in to see the man in Exeter later this month. Looking forward to it!
Went to Chelmsford last Monday. Time well spent.
A couple of mates went to Malvern (the 1st night I think) and found it pretty dull.
Went to the nottingham one and really enjoyed it.
I went to the Sheffield one last week and thought it was really good!
I'm holding out for the Miranda Miller and Beers event, that should be a good one.
you pay to watch steve peat drink and talk?
err, no thanks.
Also was at the Sheffield one last week. I did think £20 was a lot for the format but it was quite entertaining in the end and we got to stroke his world championship winning bike, still with cairns dust on it....
I’m going on Friday, I’ve mixed feelings so far. I’ve seen the ‘Won’t Back Down’ film, the ‘history of British Mountain Biking’ film that covers a lot of the same and a couple of other things, plus we’re up in the gods so I’ve set my sights fairly low.
Went to the horsham one last week. Was reasonably entertaining but I shit you not they ran out of beer by the interval. I had to have a g+t. Now I'm not an event organiser, but if your going to have an event called bikes and beers then rule one would be to make sure you had enough beers right? Peaty you owe me a pint
You know what, I took the whole ‘bikes and beers’ thing as the subject matter, I didn’t really plan to drink. Is it mandatory? I was planning to drive.
I went to the Malvern one and was pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed it myself.
Went to the High Wycombe one. Was a pretty small hall rather than proper theatre and managed front row, they had a bar at the back too. Warner and Longden pitched up too. Was a good night and brought back memories.
I enjoyed the evening, it was a lighthearted trip through his career. Whilst he isn't an amazing public speaker, he came across as a genuine bloke that enjoyed his career and is keen to put time and energies into all levels of the MTB family. I didn't realise he sponsored riders of all age groups comepting at a variety of levels through his syndicate, I thought it was limited to up and coming world class riders.
I doubt you'd get as good an evening with many other world champs from other sports for £20.
We also ran out of some beer at the venur, but what do you expect when a theatre full of men of a certain age rock up.
How many beers do you get for your £20?
Best bit is a video of Rob Warner telling a funny story!
Worth going to, but don't expect to be blown away
I got 5 beers for £21 and had a great time listening to my teenage hero talking about a brilliant career.
Thoroughly enjoyed it and would go again.
Hang on, so 'free beer'?
I may need to rethink my travel plans!
Free beer....no such thing as free beer in Leeds...ever..anywhere.
