Hi Everyone

In need of some advice I have a cove stiffee fr that I basically built out of bits I've had lying around at home. I use the bike on the road and some tracks. I'm trying to work out what stem length to use as it feels like I'm reaching the handlebars and the day after riding it I have a bloody bad back which makes me think my position.is wrong?. Its currently got a 90mm +7 stem on it.
Any help would be great

Thanks
Tom

Hard to say without seeing you on the bike, but I'd try raising the stem using spacers first if your steerer tube allows. If that doesn't help then try a shorter stem. You could try adjusting saddle position too.

It's very much a personal preference plus type of riding you do thing. Do you have a bike that you are comfortable on? If you do, measuring that up and comparing is probably a good place to start.

Buying cheap stems and trying different lengths and bar heights is really the only way you will get comfortable. There is no setup that suits everyone.

Morning everyone thankyou for the advice I kinda expected to hear what you've said. Its seems to be a person kinda thing. When riding it I'm comfortable yeah apart from the seat is rock solid but I'll change that eventually. Where is a good place to buy cheap stems?

Thanks
Tom

Planet X normally has a selection of cheap-ish stems:

Have you looked at this?
http://yojimg.net/bike/web_tools/stem.php

It would help if you had some idea of what works and doesn't
