Once again another great event. Thanks to all the organisers and marshalls for all the effort that was put in to make it happen. The atmosphere was awesome from start to finish. Abigale was happy with her result, she was stoked at everyone shouting her name, and is going back tomorrow to practice the top gap. Hope everyone enjoyed them selves as much as we did
I chose to run a semi slick on the rear. Not a choice that paid off.
And I ate it on P2 after the double. Forgot we joined the red. Low side ahoy.
Good as ever tho. Bit chilly!
Pics have started to be put up on Roots and Rain, saw a few that didn't make the transition from red to black. Hope the two girls who were stretchered off are ok. The spill in the bomb hole at the end of practace didn't look too good
Top day, loved it!
My youngest in his first ever race was the first rider on course, I watched him off the start ramp and all I could hear was cheering all the way down until he hit the bombhole at the bottom when this enormous wave of noise came rolling up the hill. At that point I seemed to have a bit of dust in my eye.
Brilliant day out, thanks to the organisers and volunteers who made this such a great day.
Great day out and a cracking event, good to see so many folks attending - even managed to get MrsCat to come along, came home with a cowbell and a sticker, the price of which leads me to suspect we bought Stanage Edge 😉
I had a great day again. Missed being start marshall this year but enjoyed racing and had my best race result ever.
So good to have so many people out supporting the race.
Bugger me it was cold sat there from 9am, but what a cracking day. Hope y'all had fun.
Was at the bomb hole when the first ripper dropped in. The roar was amazing. He did you proud. I still get dust in my eyes every time Abigale competes and crosses the finish line.
Gad you all enjoyed yourselves folks! The lady who crashed in the bombhole had a broken collar bone but otherwise ok.
The question was asked a while ago in the thread but seems worth an answer. We don't run the race in Wharncliffe for many reasons, some of which have been covered in terms of track technicality etc but the primary reason is that there is no finish area and with the major routes through the top and bottom it would be very difficult to run a good race there. It definitely wouldn't have the atmosphere that we generate at Greno.
Thanks Steve. We have been very fortunate for one of the girls to enter each year since it started. I even entered the first one. I think one of the reasons it has gone from strength to strength has been the accessibility to everyone who wants to enter and to spectate, along with the excellent organisation before hand and on the day. Why change a winning thing, there cant be many more grass root events that pull in as many spectators from all over the UK and is sold out so quick. Lets hope its going to happen year in year out.
Bloody cold yesterday, eh?!? Was racing in vets but having not been on a bike since November wasn't really up to race pace. Amazing atmosphere as ever. In fact, better, louder and generally more raucous than last year!! Awesome!!! Practice was really slow and cold though, dunno how you get more people through faster but that queue was loooong!!!
Did anyone get any pics of the rippers at the bombhole drop? Was hoping to find one of my lad but there isn't anything on Roots & Rain. Any suggestions of where to look?
