A few of us are planning to head up to the Tweed Valley for some riding in a couple of weeks - Inners, Glentress, Golfie etc.

I see that the red at Inners is closed.

Before we drive 200+ miles I was looking for some feedback on whether most other routes, trails and the like are open and running? We like to ride reds and any interesting off piste stuff like Angry Sheep and Golfie.

Thanks 🙂

There's a fair chunk of the red trail at Inners that's rideable.
I'd not worry about trail closures if I were you there's more than enough stuff open for a weeks riding.
A fair few trails that are shown as closed on Trailforks are rideable.

These any use to you?

Hadn't read the previous post, so probably won't be much help if Trailforks isn't being updated with what is or isn't closed.

It is being updated but it's not fully up to date.

May not be a problem (or might be a plus) but there's an enduro on the weekend 7-8th May. Some trails will likely be closed - but there is so much there, you'll still have plenty.

Look a bit wider afield than just Inners and Glentress- Cademuir, Thornilee and others offer v good riding and not rammed with warriors. Shorter ups and more varied trails in a more concentrated area.

Loads to ride at Inners and Golfie. As someone else said, all the good stuff at Thorni and Cademuir is also running. Valleluja appears to be at Golfie this year (based on the signs that are up), but will only be a few trails that are closed.

If you've not been in the last couple of years there's a load of more recent off-piste on the west edge of Glentress that's well worth a few hours, mostly shortish trails that are good for repeating more than once. Vallelujah looks like three at Golfie and two over the valley but there's so much else to ride it won't be a big problem.

Blue and red at Glentress mostly fine last week. Black half shut. If you haven’t been before and are travelling from somewhere flat even the blue is great fun…

Sshhhh.
Best not mention Yair either...

OP give us a shout if you want showing round.
I normally have time on my hands in the week.

Thanks for all the responses - looks like there'll be plenty to ride!

We haven't been for a few years so looking forward to checking out some new trails and new venues such as Thorni.

SS Stu - many thanks for the offer. We're planning Monday to Saturday so once our plans are firmed up I'll drop you a line.

The next challenge is finding some bike friendly accommodation...

Yair got a beating from the storms, and little 'love' since - I'm there this evening so will hopefully remember to do a status 'update'.

We recently stopped here. I would recommend it.

Was at Yair Monday evening. Yes it got a beating but most stuff I tried is accessible without issue.

This was quite a nice stay in Innerleithen. Great location for Golfie - and nothing is that far away really.

Another AirBnb link

I can tell you that most trails over Yair are clear as someone has built a new path at the top where the doll is tied to the tree.
I also spent a few hours clearing brash from the undamaged trails.

A friend has also replaced all the bridges on Ginger Mullet.

Ginger mullet bridges mean it's no longer a manual and hope crossing.

Update.
Fully open - Quarry, Double Decker, Total Control Racing (Bruce thru to Stony Knowe), Off the saddle, Drop & Sprint, Scorpion, Quarry, Bob the Baker, Hobo

2 Hoes has had a divert, so starts about a 1/4 down but Cocker, Cool Breeze and Murfs Camber are all fine as they come off further down. Revenge is gone (unless you push up for the bottom half), damn shame.

Stu - ta to your pal for the bridge work on Stoney Knowe

From Yair both Yarrowford and Bowhill are accessible off-road, so more than enough for a days riding - and if you're fit enough, could do a huge loop from Inners covering the lot 🙂

Last time I was at bowhill the top of body bag was blocked as was Illuminati. But the stuff over black Andrew was open.

We took some mates out that way the other day.
Rode over to Yair, did a few trails in Yair.
Then up the SUW and dropped down towards Yarrowford via the old Youth Hostel.
Then past the bottom of Black Andrew and into Bowhill
Only did the trail from the top that leads into Fools and Horses but it all looked clear on the other trails.
From there it was just back down the river to Selkirk.

It is being updated but it’s not fully up to date.

Do you know if No Social and 2nd Date are clear? Strava snooping suggest the former is, but the latter is so close to other trails it's hard to tell.

No Social has never been shut. I've ridden it a few times this year, although the pedal up through old Caberston is blocked, so the only way up is the pushup.

Not really been across the Traquair side that much, but 2nd date may have suffered from being nearer the edge of the trees.
