You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My son is looking at putting his savings into buying one second hand but I see Stanton recently went in to administration (though I see there are signs they may be back in the original team's hands soon).
Does anyone know if they have any unusual proprietary parts (mech hanger/headset) which might cause issues if Stanton were to fold? I can't find if their lifetime frame warranty is transferable.. doubtful but useful if anyone could confirm? Any other reason not to buy?
Thanks
Headsets are straightforward.
The hangers are integrated within the "Swapouts" - they enable you to adjust the rear axle spacing. Great idea, but unique to them AFAIK. They're pretty solid so I think it would take a fair wallop to break one. I made sure I had a spare Boost set.

Someone said the other week that the dropouts are the same as those used by Nordest.
Looks like they/you could be right there. Certainly the same concept. Chainring bolts to fit and integrated hanger.

Mech hanger is the only part to worry about, but it appears that Nordest ones are the same.
What size is your lad after? I've got a 18" gen 3 one I've been thinking of selling. Love the bike but I just don't use it enough.
The mech hanger might well look the same but check the thread pitch is also the same otherwise you might be up for a new axle as well. I think most use 1.5 but Nordest use 1.75
He is just under 5'11 so I think could be either. He is looking at 18" I think and ideally wants a complete bike with decent spec.
Thanks for the responses. I'll look into the thread pitch but at least there would be some way off keeping it running if there was an issue. A pricey 'just in case' spare to buy though...
