In my quest for a single speed MTB I’ve just seen a mk2 stanton Sherpa for sale in 17” flavour

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185602944188?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=8lVvc5sVQk2&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Is4lULm9TOW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

I think it’s currently a toss up between that and this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195390394826?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=DeTaYEEBSSG&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Is4lULm9TOW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Usually keeping to small frames being 5’6”(ish) with a 29”(ish) inseam, I’m wondering if the 17” frame would be too big

For comparison, I normally ride a small 2020 Identiti AKA

Any thoughts / advice greatly appreciated

I had a Sherpa for a while and it was a great bike. I got rid of it purely because of the stand over height being too much for my short legs. I am 5ft 8 with long body/short legs. I can’t remember if it was Gen 1 or Gen 2 but I dont think the stand over height has changed.

@johnjn2000 thankyou for that, do you recall what size frame you had? How did you find the reach? I’m a little short everywhere so my main concern lies with the reach really

I'm 5'6" with long body / short legs. Had a Sherpa 17" and liked it a lot. Mine was MK1 version but I think the geometry is the same. I found the seat tube length slightly longer than I liked, mainly because of the length of dropper I wanted. The reach felt fine. In fact I'd happily swap my current Switchback for a Sherpa.

Found it, Gen 1 17 inch in green and sold because my man parts came into contact with the top tube whenever I stepped off the saddle. The reach was fine, it was purely the stand over that caused me issues

Thankyou for the comments guys, starting to think the Sherpa might be a bit big for my short arse, shame really as a buddy of mine owns two (THINK they’re both mk1 and xl) and loves them
