I love 29er hardtails. I currently have a Orange Clockwork which is fine but I miss the feel of a steel frame and I can get a Sherpa for £400 at the moment so any reason not to get one?
Just do it. Love mine and haven't touched my suspension bike since getting it. Very unlike me, so they must be good ?
I think a Sherpa would be the only hardtail I'd consider getting rid of my Kona Honzo for
Superb frame, but like I said, run shorter forks rather than longer travel as it's best with a 100-110mm fork on it.
I was considering putting the revs on it and running them at 120mm. I do tend to have my forks more stiffer than bouncy though.
I can't believe I forgot the important question, grey or green?
I had one ran at 120 but more often rigid.. Was an excellent fun agile bike. It's got to be green. It's lovely in the flesh.
The green is beautiful. Grey is ok but nothing special.
If you put a 120 fork on, run them soft... The head angle is much slacker than most, and the BB isn't the lowest, so if the fork is too tall it can ruin the handling. It might be certified OK to run a 120mm fork, but having spoken to Dan Stanton himself on this, the bike was very much designed around a 100mm fork.
Well, the reason I didn't buy one is after test riding both, I thought the cotic solaris was better.
Love mine, go for it... 110 forks work brilliantly and like survivor I've hardly ridden my fs since getting it
Hmmmmm, thanks gents. Still pondering........
Sherpa complete bikes are sold with 120mm forks. Would they not be sold with 100mm if that was the better option?
How much clearance is there between seat- and chain-stays?
Interested to know if Fat Nimbles on some 30mm rims would squeeze in(they're around 68mm wide)?
Cheers!
Green with 120mm travel forks. Great bike!
Had mine (green) for over a year now. The full sus rarely gets used any more as the Sherpa can cope with most stuff and is just great fun to ride. I've got 120mm Floats on mine & wouldn't want anything less (imho). Great angles for descending and still climbs well.
Clearance on the chainstays isn't massive - it's my only issue with the frame. 2.25 tyres fit ok but a 2.3 Vigilante rubbed when pushing it.
Where can i get on for £400? Please!
You need to have entered the compo to win a stanton ti frame.
All the losers got a 20% off code. Tied to their emails supposedly.
Perhaps one of your riding pals entered?
Argh....ok. thank you....may be a Solaris at £300 new now!
I would like a Sherpa with the switchback dropouts, that would be great.
Love mine, very capable bike. As above, would love it with the switchback dropouts, so I could sometimes run it singlespeed. Running with 100mm forks, and now my only bike ...

Nick
I contacted Dan from Stanton Bikes before I bought my forks and was told the frame would be great with 120mm forks. Got 120Rebas from Alltricks.
The only reason not to buy is to wait for the titanium version next year!
Pre orders in January apparantly!
Yum yum!
19" in green on eBay for £450 or best offer

Up to the individual what they fit isn't it, but the BB is already on the taller side for a 29er HT and the head angle plenty slack enough already... I like low BB's though.
I had a Cotic BFe, Cotic said it was fine with up to 160mm forks fitted. With a 140mm Pike (old 32mm stanchioned one) fitted it handled crap IMO, the front end was wandery and the BB too tall... Dropped to 120 and it felt good.
