I need to replace my crests with something a bit stronger so I'm currently looking on Superstar's website at their clearance wheels.
They have Arch and Flow Ex rims.I'm thinking the Arch would be strong enough for my riding but wondered if these rims (Arch NOT Arch EX) still grip the tyre beard like my current crest's do? It also lists the Flow Ex as not tubeless ready, does this mean I would just need yellow tape and valve to make them tubeless ready?
cheers
Crest, arch ex and flow ex all use the same bead seat and need the yellow tape to run tubeless.
These are being sold as Arch not Arch EX.Do they have the same bead?
All Stans go tubeless. Yellow tape (or Gorilla) plus valves and sealant is all you need.
cheers

If I remember correctly Arches are only 19mm internally whereas Arch EXs are 21mm and have thicker nipple beds, this allowed for an increase in recommended spoke tension over previous Arch.
Not sure about the bead seat, don't ever remember them being redesigned though.
In true 'not quite answering the question you asked' tradition, I'm starting to move from using stans rims to wtb. Good lock on the bead, can be set up to work with the tighter tyres that stans don't like. The kom ones are generally wider for the weight compared to stans. Not sure about getting them as full wheels though
Yeah, I was impressed with my Frequency i25 too, and my Stryker XCs seem absurdly tough.
The bead sealing etc is equivalent between all Stans (and also the WTB tlr rims)- all yellow tape, and all pretty easy to set a tyre on.
As above, the non-ex arch is 19mm and has a slightly higher lip on the bead, although in practice there's bugger all difference. I use flow and flow ex's on my bikes, there's no difference in tyre seating or burping (i.e. none on either).
