I’ve been using some Crest Mk3’s for a few years for XC racing on my full sus 100mm 29er but the durability of them is a bit pants. They easily go out of true and the rims crack around the spoke holes.
I try not to hammer them on the rough stuff and pick the best lines I can but living in the Peak District sometimes that’s just not possible!
So what alternative alloy rims are worth looking at? Weight is obviously a big factor and I’d like them to be stronger than the crappy crests.
Crest rims weigh 364g and width is 23mm
DT Swiss XR 361's or 391's not as light as crests but wider and pretty tough.
If weight is the main priority you can use the XR 331's but most of a the top World Cup boys seem to be going wider.
