Currently having trouble mounting a new schwalbe nobby nic to an arch 29er rim.
I've tried as the web suggests by having the bead sat in the well of the rim even without a rim tape it is nigh on impossible to get it on to the rim.Even without an inner tube!
Tried the tyre on a couple of other wheels and it mounts no problem by hand.
Any suggestions before I bin the rim for something different?
Use tyre levers, and they are meant for tubeless use anyway - so don't need a tube.
Washing up liquid on the bead of the tyre.
I run that combo no problems and the bead pops on easily by hand, although I dont have one of the new tubeless ready NN, just a standard snake skin model.
How thick is your rim strip?,as you could try a single layer of Stans yellow tape to make things easier.
struggling even without a rim strip, could it be the new tubeless nn that is causing the problem? I have an old racing ralph that does go on.
