Hi guys,

I want to pop over to Stanmer at some point, but don't know where to start.

Where's the best place to park, and from there how do I find the trails?
(I can be a bit of a thickie at times!)

Cheers!

reevil - think I have seen you on MBR forums.

take a look at http://brightonmtb.org/

I rode with these guys a few times, haven't recently but sure I will, every Thursday starting 7pm til about 9pm.

Look for 'sportscentre' at Sussex Uni, it's on 'sportscentre road'. You can park here and pay and display, or it's free after 6pm. Best thing to do is ride with a local to find the best trails and routes. The website above was created by the people who made most of the trails, so is a good place to start 🙂

Thanks guys.

I googled sportscentre road, brighton, but Mr Google found no hits.

The local guys were berating the Thurs night riders of late, I forget why, but they said it wasn't as good as it had been.

I'll see what I can do belugabob

If you'd like a guided tour, email me. Otherwise I'll be out with the Thursday crowd - the car park is on the Sussex Uni campus opposite the new football stadium.

As above, best way is to go with someone who knows their way around, but if not, you can find lots of the best stuff pretty easily.
The whole place divides neatly into two parts - from the uni car park you can head straight into the nearest set of woods and off the main fireroad you'll see various trails - most of them result in fun twisty stuff. You'll be going back on your self quite a lot though.

The other bit of woods on the other side (reachable by car off ditchling road) is where the Big Dog is set, and again from the various fire roads the trails are easy to spot.

Hope this helps.
