So just done a 50hr service using the proper ohlins kit.
Watched lot of YouTube videos including ohlins followed steps etc.
Everything is nice and lubed no issues except when I load the fork there's a bubbling noise from the wiper seal. I assume this is just because I put a few drops of oil around the seal as per one set of instructions and the foam rings were soaking in oil.
Am I just bein hyper aware or are they on the way to throwing over the front and smashing my face in, which is pretty much how my luck's going at the moment.
Wouldn't be unusual to be losing some oil around the seals after a service, as long as it doesn't persist I wouldn't worry. That said, you used the word "bubbling" - are you losing air?
Yes when pushed on air pushes past the seals, which it must as they're not airtight. I think.
Just the oil means I can hear it.
I've never serviced an Ohlins fork, only Fox & Rockshox. I've never experienced air or oil movement past the seal before or after a service. If the fork is "breathing" through the seal, air can get out & contaminants from the outside back in again. Difficult to say without actually seeing it but it doesn't sound right to me. Probably something simple.
The feather edge on the seal isn't inverted is it? Garter spring intact & in place?
@Davesport turns out to be simple. The seal wasn't seated quite right. That's what happens when you get the 4 minutes to feeding time text.
Damn it.
