You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
This year we have been given the opportunity to do what we want for a staff development day as long as we can justify it. It has to be off site so I'm going to see if I can do a day trip on the bike somewhere to count as stress relief. The tricky bit is finding a way to word it so I'm looking for serious recommendations.
Improving your physical wellbeing whilst also developing mindfulness through introspection, kinesthetic awareness and proprioception.
Comprehensive cardiovascular workout while bonding as a group and experience exhilaration going downhill. Map reading is problem solving.
I’m going to see if I can do a day trip on the bike
I can think of little I'd enjoy less as staff development than a bike ride with [non biking] colleagues. Why would you do this?
It would be on my own.
lol. brilliant. great punchline mjsmke.
Being serious though if i can get away with a day of stress management and wellbeing it would be great. Liking orangespydermans's description.
On that basis the above is probably a pretty good place to start but...
If people are being allowed to do stuff on their own I'd expect your employer to want something quantifiable or at least regimented so it's not just taken to be a days subsided free holiday by most people.
Do you have a budget for it? Would it stretch to to something organised?
There is a budget to cover things like travel and parking but not a lot. Some are just going to different places to take photos of the area for example.
if you can try and tailor it to whatever is the workplace culture buzzphrase bull**** of the day at your employer then you'll be ok.
We had to a attend a H&S training course.
"Swift water rescue"
Yep, throwing yourself down rapids.
Best two days paid EVER
If you can somehow shoehorn the words "mindfulness" and "sustainability" into the wording I think you'll be fine.
Some are just going to different places to take photos of the area for example.
going to different places to take photos of the area... on a bike.
Sorted.
First Zwift as a sport and now this. That's enough boggling of my mind for one day.
Depending on what home life is like and if work is hectic I think it could be justified as a worry, commitment and responsibility free day to reflect on your work objectives without interruption surrounded by nature and getting lungfuls of clean air.
Or something like that.
Sounds brilliant - a paid day of work so I would not be allowed to 'skive' and hit the home chore list but not being interrupted by work either - like a 'blue skies day' without the bollox and need to talk to anyone I have to talk to every other work day.
