So is the skatepark in Swanage any good? I might have to bring along my skateboard mad 14 year old son if I want a domestic pass for the bank holiday weekend.

Told the wife last night her reply:

wife: Won't the tandem arrive by then?
Me: Yeah but its got gears
Wife: can't you use one of those springy things and some washers?
Me: 😯

Not sure how to handle this....

With 'one of those springy things and some washers' obviously. You should be captain and her stoker so you can beat her round.

Glad my wife isn't on STW; I've had to build her a ss for this event as it is but if she saw the post above....

Oooh date change means I might be able to make it. 🙂

Time to convince my g/f that we need to go and see my parents (who live in Dorset) and as we're there ride some bikes!

It's a singlespeed event, just turn up at the field sometime around the specified date with a single-geared bike and your choice of beverage 8)

(although Charlie may eventually need a few numbers and a bit of cash up front to ease the cause).

@ johnnyratbike I like your thinking.

Maybe a chance to show we can all play nicely together on the trails.

I'm sorry but a Ginster's party is quite frankly an insult to all bakers of proper pasties. I'm not sure you're ready for this...........

Well bikebouy, did you manage the pastie, perhaps a bit ambitous at this stage of training, be careful not to peak too early

Was looking for any updates and noticed this in the "rules"....

Yeah, you have to bring something with you, drag it round the trial, and then throw it into the massive effin’ great prize stash at the end. All the somethings will be dished back out to the single speeders is some sort of award ceremony. “Something” can be booze, combustibles, shirts, stickers, home baked food, home grown vegetables, pies, horse meat, livestock, old bike components, or Joe Breeze frames from the 1993 in 22” please.

Does the great bikemonger not know how hard it is to obtain Horse meat these days 😉

Charlie, I mailed you a few weeks back to say I've since found out it clashes with a pretty important family do so can I have either my money back or can you give it to charidee? Not heard anything back either way.

Davey boy... Didn't get the email. But that is cool. Charity it is. I can't refund on this. As the costs don't go down, and last year the organiser lost money due to a bad weather forecast, and refunding countless people. You are still in the cycling club, which is what the money is for, rather than the event.

What's the crack... It's all going ahead... Fire, music, food, sunshine.... And bikes.

Sadly it is also the Tour of Wessex weekend. Road bike torture and singlespeeding should be mutually exclusive, but weirdly not in my case this year. My new Fortitude will have to wait another year...
Good luck for a great weekend anyway...
Cheers
