Hi all,

i recently bought a X7 3x10 chainset from CRC. For some reason it never came with any bottom bracket spacers. I have emailed crc but no reply as of yet, so i can imagine having to sort it out myself.

Question is, what do i need. I know shimano there are 3 plastic spacers (2 one side 1 the other) but i assume with gxp the way it works having the exact correct shim thickness is critical to set the axle play.

So i assume with it being presumably a 68mm frame it needs 5mm to bring to 73. So i thought 2.5 each side? I have searched and searched for info on this but no luck, then i finally came across a sram article and it mentioned 1 spacer and an o-ring? Where does the o-ring go and does that mean they run just a 5mm shim on one side (d/s?)

Many thanks;

Harvey

Hi Harvey

I have SRAM GXP BB's on both my bikes - one bike has a 68mm shell and is run with 2 spacers (one 2.5mm on either side), the other has a 73mm shell as standard so no spacers required.

From past experience CRC don't usually include a BB with chainsets. Having a single spacer & o-ring is not a setup I've seen since the days when I had an ISIS BB.

Hope that helps

Thanks jb, maybe i read about the isis by accident! I was using phone!

The chainset came with BB (although it had slight tool marks on it, so maybe it was a return item and person forgot to send back spacers). If i have no joy with CRC i will try and get hold of 2x2.5 spacers!

Thanks;

Harvey

Hi Harvey

If you get stuck for some spacers I'm pretty sure I have a couple of spare ones in my toolbox - happy to post a couple out to you if you're happy to pay the cost of postage.
