Longevity and performance on sram AXS - any opinions?
For reference I’ve just checked the wear on my X01 chain paired with X01 AXS and XX1 cassette after approx 6000km and it’s showing zero wear.
Zero wear?? After 4000 miles?
ZFC always rate the hard chrome finish on high end SRAM chains as exceptionally durable. Garbaruk, for some reason, recommended against kmc on their cassettes.
Having said all that, I run 4 kmc chains on a garbaruk cassette without issue. Chains are a few years old which I put down to hot waxing.
A well looked after chain with always out last a neglected one, whatever brand you're considering
If my chain measuring device showed zero wear after 4000miles I’d be looking for another chain checker. The Pedros chain checker is pretty good. I use 3 different chain checkers.
I’ve never had a more expensive chain last longer but that’s maybe because I haven’t tried a top of the line one.
Zero wear?? After 4000 miles?
Correct. I haven’t measured it with a ruler but both the Shimano TL-CN42 and ParkTool CC4.2 checkers sit on top of the rollers which is the same as when new. I have two chains on rotation that I have been using since I bought the bike which has done 12500km. It’s an electric gravel/road bike and I wax the chains. I measured it before a rewaxing so there was as little wax as possible in the rollers.
I can believe it. Posher SRAM cassettes and chains are made from vibranium, alloyed with adamantium, it would seem
I always use XO1 cassettes with XX1 chains, and I check them all the time, but minimal wear, can't say none but minimal for the 700Miles its covered so far. 3x the cost but 3x the life.
