Hey Guys happy Friday.

Got one remaining issue on my recent purchase Bike is fitted with Sram XX1 (Mk1).

Orange 5 27.5, currently has a Chris King BB30 on it..... Chris King would weep in his coffee if he saw the BB bearings, non drive side are well shagged, rattling about and grinding, I have stripped and re-greased but its still creaking! I am thinking of cutting my losses and buying Hope BB30, Just wondering if I need to buy a hope converter for the Sram stuff?

Also I haven't checked yet but assume that the Orange is Standard BSA theads BB30 and not push fit stuff?

Any other BB recommendations or options welcomed?

Cheers Guys P : )

No, you don't need any adaptor to run SRAM cranks with a Hope BB. It's the combination I'm running and haven't had any issues.

I'm confused though. There aren't many companies that make a threaded BB30 bottom bracket; I can only think of the Race Face Cinch (where you can run BB30 cranks in a 'standard' BSA shell). Are you sure it isn't just a press fit bottom bracket? Secondly, can't you just service your Chris King bottom bracket? Just push out the bearings and stick some new/cheap ones in? It'll save you a load of cash.

If it was running an external GXP bottom bracket like my Mk1 XX1 - you’ll need the converters to run a standard Hope external BB.  No more than £10 from a Hope dealer.

Are you sure it’s BB30?

Apologies for the late response guys!

Thanks for the comments its deffo a threadfit external bb, unsure why the previous owner chose to do that and what options there would be on a SRAM XX1.

Also not quite sure what to do next, I am assuming I could get a bearing to fit it not sure on the size tho. Another option is, I suppose I could  buy a cheap SRAM BB for now as a stop gap and send it back to Chris King to service it. EeeeK

Chris King have a five year warranty but unsure how long its been fitted, Its a 2014 Orange so  I actually think the BB  might only be max of 4 years old, have to try and track the guy down to see if hes still got the receipt.

Cheers P
