A friend of mine is in need of a new bb and I've offered to fit it for him.
I'm only use to Shimano cranks and bb's so not sure what size he needs. He has sram xx cranks on an external gxp bb and would prefer a Chris King or Hope bb
Will a Chris /king or Hope bb fit or will he need to buy a sram bb?
Don't know about CK, but Hope bb are Shimano HT2 standard, but you can get a Hope adapter to fit SRAM GXP cranks to them. I've run a X0 crankset on a Hope bb in this way for 2 years without a problem.
Hope bb with gxp shims for me with xx cranks
Been like that at least 2 years and work fine much better than SRAM bb
But you can't fit any old ht2 bb as the axle is wrong
Both Chris king and hope make bb's with adapters that will fit the SRAM GDP style of cranks.
Yep as above you can't use the Shimano thankfully 🙂 Hope certainly make an adaptor, file a little groove into it for ease of removal. (You will get it when you see it)
Thanks everyone! I'll have a look for the adapters. And thanks for the tip about cutting a groove. Not too sure what you mean yet but like you said i'll know when i see it.
