hi i know the rear sram xo sifter needs a sram xo mech but dose the front?? also whats the difference between a sort, medium and long rear mech? cheers eddy

Hi

Front mechs (up to 9 speed anyway) are universal.

Short/med/long cage refers to the rear mech. The choice depends on how many chainrings you are running.

For the front, you can mix and match! You could even run a shimano X-something with a sram x-0 cage, or a sram x-0 shifter with a shimano mech!

As for the rear mechs, the difference is the length of the cage of the mech.

i.e.

Short mech..

Long cage mech..

Generally, you can run a short with a single ring on the front, medium with a dual, and a long with a triple. (There are however exceptions to this)

I am running three on the front and nine on the rear i have currently got a long xt mech on the rear and was going to get a xo rear mech and didnt know wether or not to get a medium mech is this possible i never realy use the bottom ring on the front what should i do get a long one cheers eddy
