After just bending my 10 speed x9 Medium cage rear mech I've just been looking for its replacement.. with no joy other than ebay as they all seem to be 9 speed.
Have they moved on, where do the GX range fit in. The x0/XX are a massive jump up in cost, I suppose I could drop down to an X7 but that brings in another question Type 2 or 2.1? Is this just a clutch variation?

Any help would be appreciated, I need to make a quick decision as I'm racing again soon! Will try LBS in the week, but if they have to order then I might be too late. Also might need new hanger, but specialized don't seem to have a standard, one, the website doesn't actually list my bike!
Thanks
D

X0/XX are just about tiny weight savings for huge mark up. Unless you're a true weight weenie I wouldn't bother with them.

GX replaces X7/X9, though make sure you get the 10 speed, which oddly is sold as 2x10. Not sure why 2x specific, unless maybe it's fixed at medium cage length. Should be fine for 1x with a clutch though. Probably not long enough for 3x.

Type 2.1 I believe is just the current version.

X7 would be old kit and basically discontinued. The X7/X9 are still knocking about for 9 speed though.

Type 2 have the clutch . What bike do you have as mech hangers are bike specific?

Thanks,

I have a Epic Carbon Comp 29 running 2x10. So looks like a 2x10 GX is the way forward. Don't suppose the clutch makes much difference??? They all work on 1:1 actuation, so I'm assuming its all good....The specialised site listing the hangers didn't show a 2012 Epic Carbon comp, but assume its the same rear triangle as the alu version (as mine has the alu rear triangle)
