wheres the hole that you thread the cable into for replacing it? tried looking earlier and there was 1 alan bolt with a bit of grease on the end? is that it?
There is not one. You have to dismantle to pod to change the cable. You unscrew the big screw thing on the top of the pod and the hole top comes off. Just be careful as you can end up with angry springs attacking you. The full manual can be had from there website.
bloody hell, id rather sort that at the lbs in that case, first time doing it loads of springs? im sure to make it worse lol
It's only one spring, and unless you're clumsy then it'll stay put, make a note of where it clips in just in case you dislodge it and you'll be fine.
Just keep it upright when you unscrew the cap and you'll be fine - IIRC it's only about 1/2 a turn
is this the cap on the top, the silver one in a kinda hexagon shape?
aye just had a look inside both, the rear is slightly different to the front shifter inside, i saw the springs which i took out and put back in, looks pretty complicated, looks like i have to kinda wrap the cable around the plastic disk and bang the springs back on top and carry on from there, like i said whats best option? get it all done at lbs or try do this whole thing my self lol
You don't need to take the spring out. It's a while since I replace it, but if you push the old cable out you can see how the new one will go back in. IIRC you just push the spring over to the side a bit
do u have to unscrew the plastic ring what the cable is wrapped around? or just a case of taking the lid off, sliding the cable out, putting new one in same way?
No, undo the silver top cap and push the cable out - that will show you where the new one goes in
so u dont even have to take the main shifter cap off?
