On my new HT 29er I have SRAM SX Eagle 12 speed, shifter, chain, 11-50 cassette and crankset, with an NX Eagle rear mech. I have another nearly new drive train, on another bike, which is 12 speed SLX 7100 on a 10-51 Deore cassette.

The SLX feels lighter and nicer, so wondering about swopping over the SLX shifter and rear mech to the wholly SRAM setup.

If that’s going to be a significant improvement I may do it, and then fit the SRAM shifter and mech to the Shimano setup (am selling that bike)

So, will a mix and match like this be worth it as an upgrade, or really just similar ?

Once the SX breaks, and it probably will, yes. No point till then though.

SRAM and Shimano are way more interchangeable than people think. My setup is:
- Deore 12spd crankset
- SRAM NX Eagle chain
- SRAM NX Eagle cassette
- SRAM NX Eagle shifter
- Shimano Deore 12spd derailleur

It works flawlessly
