Hi Guys

I bought a bike for my Missus with the above rear derailier and first time she cycled up a mega steep slope she pushed the chain over the top of granny, which suggests it needs adjusting. Rutland are happy to pay for it if I take to a shop, but under the current restrictions, is there a simple solution.....not being very techy when it comes to bike gears!

Thanks in advance.

Limit screw needs a tweak

Whadda Man....thanks mate!

Hmmm.....just tried that and it didn't make any difference. They suggested it might have been knocked in the box when transported, so might need to take this into the LBS.

Are you sure you adjusted the correct limit screw. It isn't immediately obvious which one you need to adjust to stop it dropping off the big sprocket.

Yeah I nearly always adjust the wrong one first. On my NX mech the low limit screw (for the big sprocket on the cassette) is the one furthest from the wheel. Somewhat counter intuitive.

Might be worth taking it to a shop as its a new bike if you are not sure. You should be able to wind the limit screw in far enough to stop it going into the 50t completely.

Bent mech hanger or mech during shipping is pretty common. 7

If you’ve set the low limit screw correct then there is no way the chain should slip into the wheel

Must be a bent hanger

Did you release the cable tension and take the chain off to manually shift the mech to the 50T? This is the best way to set the limit screws. Start with the high first then the low
