Hi Sram mech exploded climbing Dumyat today on Ebike is it still the case if I go to shimano on rear mech I have to change the shifter also. Bike is 12 speed if that makes any difference.
Cheers Mark

I'm using a SRAM 11s shifter with a Shimano 12s rear mech, it works fine. The clutch is better too!

I believe that with 12 speed stuff, it's all close enough that it's viewed by many as interchangable, but not optimised.

I junked my Sram GX rear mech last week.

Everything else is GX, shifter, Chain, cassette.

Fitted a new Deore 12 Speed, works flawlessly, better shifting than I ever remember with the GX.

It's lower profile than GX so should be out of the way of rocks, and hopefully less fussy about having a perfectly straight hanger.

Also at £38 is a helluva lot cheaper than GX.

Outer cable needs to be a few cm longer, but mine was too long anyway.

Currently running a GX Shifter with an XT mech, SLX cassette and a GX chain, works beautifully.

Slowly evolving from SRAM to Shimano.

Replaced a 12spd GX mech with XT. As above it works just fine, shifts more consistently actually.
