Afternoon folks, I’m after some advice.
I have a Cannondale Scalpel Si that’s just under 2 years old. It came with a Rockshox Full Sprint Remote lockout.
Long story short - the lockout is very poorly designed and needs replacing under warranty every few months. It’s widely acknowledged problem and well documented all over the Internet.
I’m sick of sending it back for a warranty replacement time and time again. The best that Zyrofisher / Sram tech can offer is to replace the poorly designed product like for like. I’m getting nowhere with them.
I think I’ve found an alternative lockout that I can replace it with and have just forked out a chunk of cash out of my own pocket for it.
Wondering if is worth perusing with anything further with them or am I wasting my time?
Funnily enough Cannondale have ditched that lockout for a cable actuated in for 2019 bikes.
Is it the shock? Can they replace shock and remote?
No the shock is fine. It’s the remote that’s garbage.
The current remote locks out the shock and the lefty fork at the same time. I’m planning to split it into 2 lockouts. A PBR style button lockout on the top of the fork and a single hydrhalic lockout for the Monarch XX. The single hydraulic lockouts seem to be reliable. It’s the dual one that’s pants.
The shock is also bespoke to the frame with spacers to reduce the shock stroke so it doesn’t foul the frame so finding a replacement shock would also be tricky as it’s not a standard size.
What I meant was get the lot swapped out
Go after Cannondale here especially if it's bespoke kit. It's not up to the job and it's up to them to sort it out. Ask for the current Fox as a replacement.
