Have got SRAM Rival 2x11 on my Pickenflick, bike is just over a year old. I have recently had a few shifting glitches ... Gear changes down (into a lower gear / larger sprocket) are not always snappy or decisive, and the lever is starting to feel stiff when changing down.
I know a new cable is needed anyway (there's a little fraying as the cable enters the rear mech), and have played around with the indexing a little. That would explain (potentially) the gear shifting inconsistencies, but is the stiffness in the shifter indicative of a problem there too (or instead of)? Any known issues about premature wear or failure of Rival shifters?
Thanks
The mechanism on the hood fills with crap due to the utterly shite lack of sealing from the elements evident across all SRAM road shifters.
Take the hood off, remove the cover (3 little screws) spray with brake cleaner or the like, clean each tooth on the rachet with a cotton bud, clean out with WD40, allow to dry, lightly grease each rachet individually, put cover back on amd repeat every couple of months.
every couple of months.
What a faff!
Mine are the HRD ones. Peeled the rubber back and there seems to be a plate on the back of the hood with 4 screws ... Is that what I remove?
Change the cable (inner & outer) and see how it feels then. It always amazes me how long people will leave it to change cables.
