Can anyone advise is Red eTap compatible with 'mechanical' framesets? I currently run mechanical Ultegra and fancy going over to electronic.

Given the lack of cables I’d have thought there would be absolutely zero compatibility issues.

I've got it on two "mechanical" framesets. The only difference is that I have unused cable guides on one, and unused internal routing on the other. eTap doesn't need to run cables or store batteries or junction boxes.

My main worry was around the front mech. I gather, and i could be wrong here, that Ultegra Di2 has a different attachment method to mechanical...which is why i see electronic specific frames. I presume the eTap front mech fits the fitting on a mechanical groupset frame (or adaptors must be available?).

that’s nothing to do with wireless or mechanical though. I think you can get them with different mounting options (band/braze on etc)

Having just put eTap on my 2005 Merlin CR6/4 I can confirm that it fits just fine, but you may need to get a SRAM band-on front mech fitting as the Shimano one I've had on for 13 years wasn't compatible.
