Looking at new bikes and quite a few of them in my price range have SRAM NX 11sp. Some have changed the alleged 'boat anchor' cassette for a Suntour unit.
I've not used SRAM since the days of 9sp X5/X7/X9 and I was underwhelmed back then. Where would NX fit in the Shimano hierarchy?
It's somewhere between deore and SLX IMHO more like an x7.
I've had it for a year and it's been fine, I'll upgrade it as it wears out.
NX mech and shifter with a Sunrace cassette is probably the most cost effective way to do 1x11 as the Sunrace is cheaper, lighter and has a wider range.
We've got one bike with SLX and another with NX; both with Sunrace cassettes (bienvenu à casa Cheapskate) IMO the NX shifts better.
Had it for 6 months, seems good so far, swapped for an xt cassette, extra range is great, mech works fine with 11-46 & fair bit lighter.
Shifting is nice & crisp, but I do miss 2-way release
I'm hard on mechs but so far better than flimsy X7, but my last crash has bent it a bit so I'll swap to zee when it dies.
Itd not put me off a new bike
