Hi folks,

First time I have used GXP cranks on a build. Using a hope PF41 bottom bracket with the GXP add on cups. Question is how much space shoud there be between the rear face of the drive side crank arm and the bottom backet itself? With shimano cranks the face of the crank arm pretty much comes up to the face of the BB. With the GXP cranks it seems to leave a gap between the face and shell of about 4-5mm. Is this how it should be or have I gone wrong somewhere. Followed the hope guidance, and with a 92mm shell BBIi shouldnt be fitting any additional spacers. Just seems quite a bit of space for crap to get down into the BB. Any advice much appreciated

Cheers

Oli

I was searching for the answer to this question this morning. The crank tightens against the bearing housing diameter on the non-drive side. The drive side crank is not meant to fit snug against the drive side cup, it'll bind if you try. So you need to add a spacer or two to the non-drive side. Best bet is to measure the chain line to work out how many spacers you need. If it's a single ring boost setup, it should measure 52mm from the centre of the BB shell to the middle of the chain. I measured mine, added one spacer and it's all good.
