Looking to buy a crankset but what do all the details, acronyms and numbers mean?
Q174 ?
55mm chainline?
Dub?
Wide crankset?
I have changed cranksets before, but am unsure what the above means and therefore if it will fit my bike and what bottom braket I'll need!
The Q number and the wide part are the same thing, there’s a narrow or wide crankset available.
DUB is the bottom bracket type.

55mm chainline is the distance from the centre of the bottom bracket to the teeth on the chainring.
If you’re after one with the spec you met in then I’ve got one for sale that I can do you for a decent price.
Thanks crossed.
I was looking for one with a powermeter, but am unsure what is currently on my bike in terms of bb width.
I may just get a pedal powermeter - or crankarm - may be less faff.
Evening. I'm fairly sure that if it's SRAM the BB width is standard and then you make up to the crank width (ie normal or wide (ie 55mm) with standard SRAM spacers (there's a how to guide on the sram website somewhere). Chainline is a whole other thing and is bike dependant - if your bike takes big 29x2.6 inch tyres then you're probably 55, older bikes are more likely 52mm. Shimano is a whole other kettle of fish and the cranks themselves will dictate the chainline.
