Hello the jockey wheels are somewhat wobbly and loose despite the teeth being hardly worn. Is there anywhere I can buy a bearing replacement set rather than the £40 to buy new sram ones.
Thanks
I brought the Hope ones for my SRAM Rival, a much better, but pricey upgrade.
Thanks qwerty I’d seen the hope ones. But as the teeth are hardly worn. I wondered if I could just change bearing set
Yep, that combined with the dodgy top pivot, it's destroyed a 3 month mech today.
You can either buy bearings to press in yourself - the old ones press out quite easily - I just had a socket over the bearing and gave it a tap. I haven’t got round to buying new bearings for mine yet but there’s a thread from last year with the size on.
Or do what I did and get yourself a set of the nx 11 speed jockey wheels - they roll on bushings instead of bearings so should be more reliable and were only £14. Got them in both my 11 speed gx mechs now.
Think these are the ones. Nothing to it to change them, drive the old ones out with a flat blade screwdriver and knock the new ones in with a tack hammer. They’re pretty cheap bearings, so no need to be too prissy with them.
i changed the bearings in mine this week. £2.89!
used a vice and sockets to press out the old bearings. easy job.
also, bikeinn seem to be cheapest for the NX bearingless ones
Any 6x19x6 2rs bearing will do. Dead easy to press/tap out/in
Go NX. I swapped the bearings in the GX a couple of times but they kept seizing.
NX have just kept rolling.
How long are the NX bushing ones lasting before they get side to side flop like the bearing versions if indeed they do? are people getting decent use/mileage?
I’ve not done enough mileage on either set of nx ones so far to really comment. Neither have play so far and are spinning fine. The ones on the hardtail went in around Jan time and the fs ones went in maybe Oct/Nov.
