I've notice that my pads are wearing down unevenly, from top to bottom,so the edge nearest the hub is down to the metal (or nearly) and the edge furthest away has hardly any wear.
This means I'm only getting a hundred miles or so out of a set of pads.
I've tried a couple of different brands of pads,I push the pistons fully back when fitting and everything is clean and free from signs of wear. This is happening on both the front and back brakes.
Any idea's whats causing this and how to fix it
cheers
The Guides are dual piston - they are not pushing evenly, take your wheel out and carefully pull on the lever to check.
To fix it you'll need to repeat but use a tool (like a plastic tyre lever) to hold back the piston which comes out the furthest - this will encourage the slower piston out. Do this a few times to lubricate the back of the pistons.
This wont help me I don't think as mine are ok front to back, it's up and down that mine are wearing unevenly.
Hard to say without seeing the bike, but this sounds like caliper flex to me. The old avid juicys used to do this, but the guide calipers look like a muh better design that should prevent this. Are the rotor faces parallel? i.e, they aren't worn on an angle which is in turn wearing the pads at an angle too.
