Was just tinkering with some secondhand Guides I have waiting to go on the rear of the HT im slowly building. Tinkering...meaning bored.
One piston was a little sticky and in the course of freeing it up (little 5.1 around the edge of the piston whilst pumping them in/ out)... I pushed a couple of them out to the point of some fluid escaping past the seals.
I might buy a seal kit for them anyway [b](anyone got a link for a good price for seals??)[/b], but as it stands, Im guessing that apart from letting a load of air into the caliper, I haven't damaged anything? Need to cut hose, so a bleed was on the cards anyway.
Pistons pushed back in fine by the way.

No damage done, done it before myself on Elixirs, clean off the fluid and push the piston back in, bleed and you're good to go. 🙂

If you haven't rebuilt yet, give the pistons a quick shot of silicon spray (fork juice etc) but not anything like wd40, gt85 etc that also contains a freeing oil before you pop them back in and bleed.
DOT fluid isn't really a lubricant and really shouldn't be used as one despite handed down Haynes book wisdom. The silicon spray (quick shot, not dripping wet) won't damage your fluid and will help the seals last as well as helping not have another sticky piston. 🙂

Have also ordered a small tub of Castrol red grease for potential future caliper rebuild.
Fitted the guides to the bike tonight. Sure enough, the lever comes back to the handlebar with no braking effect.
Not unexpected, but a job to do when I'm in a patent mood.lol 🙂
